    Bihar Science Congress uncertain

Patna (PTI): Bihar Science Congress is not likely to be held here on May 6 as its major sponsor the state government has withdrawn from it.

"We have withdrawn from the conference and a letter has been issued to all concerned. We have informed the dignitaries also through e-mail and phone about the unavoidable circumstances," state's Director for Council of Science and Technology Ashok Ghosh said.

The state government would organise a conference afresh, Ghosh said.

Former President and eminent scientist Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was to deliever the key-note address at the inaugural function. He had already been apprised of the latest situation, official sources said.

Over 300 scientists drawn from the country and abroad including those from Oxford University, Leeds University, Max Planck Research Institute, Germany were invited by the state government to attend the three-day conference.

An NGO, a minor partner of the proposed Congress, is not available for comment on the latest situation.
