Goa to supply essential commodities at subsidised rates
Panaji (PTI): Initiating price rise control measures, the state government on Saturday announced a programme to provide essential commodities to citizens at subsidised rates.
"The programme will be launched on June 2 and all efforts will be made to provide essential commodities to the common man at a subsidised rate," Goa chief minister Digamber Kamat told reporters.
He said that all those having ration cards will be able to get essential commodities including - tur dal, palmolein oil, white peas, green grams, wheat flour, coconut and vegetables.
The civil supplies and agriculture department will be selling these commodities in government outlets spread across the state.
Goa state horticulture corporation, a government run body, will be sell these commodities through six mobile vans which will travel across the state as per given time table.
Kamat said that the government will bear the expenditure beyond the wholesale market prices. "This will include the expenditure on transport from wholesale market, market cess, loading, unloading charges and other handling charges," he added.
The programme is expected to involve 250 tonnes of commodities per month.
