Power situation remains bleak in West Bengal

Kolkata (PTI): The power situation in entire West Bengal worsened on Thursday as some more power plants could not generate.

"Power shortfall will be around 600 MW taking into account both West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company and CESC command area," a utility official spokesperson said.

"Wet coal continues to cripple generation in existing units and National Thermal Power Corporation-- Farraka's one 500 MW unit has tripped," he added.

The shortfall in WBSEDC area was expected to 450 MW and CESC area of about 150 MW.
