11 more fodder convicts sentenced
Ranchi (PTI): A Special CBI court here on wednesday sentenced 11 fodder convicts to prison term ranging from three to seven years in connection with the fodder scam case pertaining to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 39 crore from Chaibasa treasury.
With today's judgement, the CBI court completed pronouncing of sentences against 63 out of 64 convicts in the fodder scam case.
Former Animal Husbandry Department official Brajnandan Sharma was sentenced to seven years imprisonment and was slapped a fine of Rs 1.25 crore while former AHD additional director Krishna Mohan Prasad was awarded six years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1.25 crore.
The court sentenced former AHD regional director K N Jha six years jail term and slapped Rs 80 lakh fine.
Former Treasury officer Silas Tirkey was sentenced for five years and was slapped a fine of Rs 20 lakh, former AHD director Ram Raj Ram was given four years prison term and Rs five lakh fine, while Subodh Chandra was sentenced for four years and fined for Rs five lakh.
Gaya Prasad Tripathy, Mukesh Srivastav and Arjun Sharma were sentenced to five years imprisonment and fined Rs 40 lakh each.
B L Das was sentenced for three years and fined Rs 5 lakh while Lal Mohan Gop was sentenced for three years and fined Rs 30,000.
On July 25 the court will pronounce the quantum of punishment against IAS officer Sajjal Chakraborty who had already been convicted by it.
Regional
