Imphal (PTI): Two militants of Kangleipak Communist Party--Military Council (KCP-MC) were killed in an encounter with police commandos in Imphal East district of Manipur, official sources said on Thursday.

The encounter took place when commandos attached to Imphal East district police station raided Khurai Chairenthong area last night following reports that some militants were frequenting the area.

The KCP-MC operatives opened fire at the commandos and in the ensuing gunfire both the militants were killed, they said, adding, one pistol, one magazine with four rounds were also recovered from the spot.

Over 200 persons including civilians were so far killed this year in militancy-related crimes in Manipur, the sources added.
