Imphal (PTI): Two militants were killed and two jawans injured in separate militancy-related incidents in Manipur, official sources said on Wednesday.

Sources said suspected militants of People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) attacked an army post of 4/8 Gorkha regiment at Ningthoukhong area in Bishenpur district last nigh by lobbing bombs and opening fire.

At least four bombs exploded inside the post injuring two army personnel, sources said adding that exchange of fire between the two sides lasted about 15 minutes.

After the attack, a combined force of army personnel and police commandos attached to Bishenpur police station launched a massive manhunt, sources said adding that another exchange of fire occured at Ningthoukhong lake area in which an unidentified militant was gunned down.

In another incident yesterday, a combined team of Assam Rifles personnel and police commandos gunned down a militant o People's United Liberation Front (PULF) at Wangjing area in Thoubal district, sources said.

Over 250 persons including civilians were killed in militancy-related crimes so far in Manipur this year, sources added.
