BJP open to tie up with INLD, Haryana Janhit Congress
Chandigarh (PTI): The BJP on Tuesday said that it is open to tie up with its former ally Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Haryana Janhit Congress led by former Congress MP, Kuldeep Bishnoi, for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in Haryana.
Speaking to reporters, BJP's co-incharge of Haryana affairs, Harjit Singh Grewal said, "We are open to the tie up with anti-Congress parties including the INLD and the Haryana Janhit Congress."
The INLD and BJP were allies until 2004 Lok Sabha polls and then parted ways.
Speculations have been rife that the two could again join hands ahead of the next Lok Sabha polls, but both the parties have not publicly made any announcement to this effect so far.
When asked that Haryana BJP had been against any tie up with INLD ever since the two broke up, Grewal said, "Whatever decision is taken will be in full knowledge and consultation with our state leadership."
Earlier INLD president and former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala had told reporters in Fatehabad that the Third Front "has been finished" after exit of Samajwadi Party.
Chautala had said that "like-minded" parties opposed to the UPA should join hands to vote them out in the next Lok Sabha elections, indicating a possible tie up with the BJP.
When asked to comment if a tie-up with both INLD and Janhit Congress will materialise at the same time, Grewal said, "Possibilities cannot be ruled out."
Earlier Bishnoi had ruled out tie-up with any party for the Lok Sabha polls, saying his party would contest all the 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana on its own.
