Canning, WB (PTI): A couple was injured when they were attacked by a crocodile at Patharpratima near the Sunderbans in South 24-Parganas late Tuesday.

District Health sources said Kanai Samanta and his wife Bishnupriya were fishing in Jagaddal river on Tuesday when they were attacked by a crocodile, sources said.

It first attacked Bishnupriya and later her husband when he tried to free his wife from the reptile's clutches.

Bishnupriya was admitted to Patharpratima hospital where her condition was stated to be serious, sources said.

Samanta was given first aid, the sources added.
