Chennai (PTI): More than 500 medical and para medical students holding a demonstration here on Sunday over the Sri Lankan Tamils issue, said they are willing to go to the island nation to provide aid to the affected people.

The students from various colleges in the city, under Tamil Nadu Medical and Para-Medical Student Council, said if the Centre and the State government permit, they would even go to Sri Lanka to provide medical help to affected people.

They raised slogans against the Lankan government and sought an immediate ceasefire in the island nation. Further, they asked the Centre to prevail upon the Sri Lankan government to stop the war and protect Tamils.

The council also asked the Tamil Nadu government to properly rehabilitate Sri Lankan Tamil refugees, lodged in various camps in the state.
