Fake mobile phones seized at Chennai airport
Chennai (PTI): Around 4,000 fake Nokia mobile phones, allegedly imported from Hong Kong with a total face value of Rs one crore, were seized at the cargo complex of the airport here.
Customs Commissioner R Periasamy said the goods seized on a tip-off had been declared as Chinese mobile phones.
However, on opening the boxes containing the phones, meant for an address in New Delhi, the officials found nearly 4,000 "fake" Nokia phones and accessories, he said adding it was very difficult for the common man to differentiate between the original and the fake handsets.
