TN by-polls: Proceedings to be monitored live, says CEO
Coimbatore (PTI): Barring some booths in Bargur, all other booths in the five assembly constituencies going to bypolls on Aug 18 would be equipped with web cameras so that the polling process was monitored, Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta said on Saturday.
Almost all the booths had broadband connectivity and the CEO's office in Chennai could monitor live the voting process, he told reporters here after reviewing the poll preparedness in Thondamuthur constituency in the district.
The Election Commission had received some code violation complaints, including 15 from Thondamuthur, but these were not that serious, he said.
Since the Lok Sabha elections were held recently, the indelible ink would be marked on right index finger, he said.
Meanwhile, BJP candidate for Thondamuthur M Chinnaraju today accused the DPA and Congress of violation of election laws and conduct rules.
In a petition to the Election observer, Chinnaraj claimed thousands of outsiders from other districts had been brought and accommodated in resorts and farm houses and residents of Congress and DMK cadres.
Alleging that money was being distributed to the voters in many places, he alleged that these violations and illegal activities were carried out with the full knowledge of police and election officials.
