GM India March sales up 12 p.c.

New Delhi, April 3 (PTI): Four-wheeler manufacturer General Motors India reported a 12 per cent increase in vehicle sales during March at 4,542 units compared to 4,070 units in the same month a year ago.

The company said sales in March was the highest ever monthly volume achieved by GM India since its inception.

GM India sold 2,175 units of multi utility vehicle Chevrolet Tavera, 426 units of premium sedan Optra and 1,941 units of mid-size sedan Aveo during the month, the company said in a statement.

"We are very pleased to see such a robust growth for all our carlines under the Chevrolet brand. The company is all set to launch the Chevrolet Spark to mark its entry into the mini car segment," GM India Vice President P Balendran said in the statement.

Chevrolet Spark is a facelift version of Daewoo's Matiz. General Motors had acquired the South-Korean company after it went bankrupt.
