Reliance Globalcom, Qtel sign network partnership
Dubai (PTI): Qatar's telecom operator Qtel on Tuesdaysaid it has signed an agreement with Reliance Globalcom, a subsidiary of India's telecom operator RCom, to provide a range of services for country-based and international clients.
Under the partnership, the two will offer a comprehensive range of value-added services, including global Ethernet, full circuit IPLC (International Private Leased Circuit), managed services and IP VPN (Internet Protocol for Virtual Private Networks), Qtel said in a statement.
Such advanced services enable business networks to manage a higher volume of voice, video and data applications in a more innovative manner, providing a competitive advantage to globally-focussed companies.
Reliance Globalcom owns the world's largest private undersea cable system, spanning 65,000 km and connecting key business markets in India, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, and the United States, including its FLAG Europe-Asia cable.
By positioning Qatar as a hub on this cable system, customers could be less exposed to the impact of cable breaks in the future, the statement said.
"Our relationship with Qtel is part of a strategy to collaborate with quality service providers and leverage each other's strengths to extend network capability and reach in the region for serving the fast growing needs of our customers," the President and Chief Executive Officer of Reliance Globalcom, Punit Garg, said.
