TAAI meets at Dubai to promote India's medical tourism

New Delhi (IANS): The annual conference of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), the country's largest travel trade body, to be held in Dubai this year, will showcase the key features of India's medical tourism.

"We would showcase India at the 58th Indian Travel Congress (annual convention) in Dubai this year. This will give boost to India's tourism, especially given the fact that not many tourists from the Middle East visit India," TAAI president Rajinder Rai told reporters here on Saturday.

Over 2,000 delegates would take part in the conference from Sep 29 to Oct 2 in Dubai. Tourism industry players from both India and the emirate will exchange their views and experience in the conference.

"The conference will contribute extensively in promoting and marketing Dubai in India which has been showing signs of strong growth,” Mr. Rai added.

He said India has the a potential to become a leading nation in medical tourism. "We have states like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka where there is lot of scope for medical tourism.”
