Fans carry out mock-funeral of Indian cricket team

Ahmedabad, March. 24 (PTI): After being virtually knocked out of the World Cup, cricket fans in the city today burnt effigies and conducted mock-funeral of the Indian players.

At the Lotus School in Isanpur locality, a group of cricket enthusiasts staged demonstrations protesting the meek surrender of the Indian cricket team to Sri Lanka.

They carried posters which criticised the cricketers for not concentrating on the game and minting money through advertisements.

The irate fans also raised slogans against BCCI President Sharad Pawar and coach Greg Chappell. Members of the group slapped the posters of cricketing icons with slippers before burning those.

Meanwhile, another group of youths conducted a mock-funeral of the cricket team members.

The youths, who had gathered at the Gujarat College, took out a mock funeral procession and thereafter burnt effigies of the players.
