Pathan confident of come back
Chennai, June 1 (PTI): India's new ball bowler Irfan Pathan today said he has got back to his rhythm and is on the right path for a confident peformance in the coming season.
Talking to PTI at the end of his six-day training at the MRF Pace Foundation from where he rose to be an international, an excited Pathan said 'I am back to my usual rhythmic style of bowling. You see the light in my face. I am happy to come back to the Academy to take corrective measures."
Giving accolades to T.A.Sekar, Chief Coach and the facilties at the MRF Academy, Pathan, who last played when West Indies toured India in January last, said 'I have been wanting to hone my skills with Sekar but I could not find time at a stretch for a week or more'.
Explaining that he felt that he lost the rhythm during India's Pakistan tour and than many people gave different versions about his form, the India bowler, wanting to cement his place in the national squad, said 'It took just two seconds for Sekar sir to tell me as to where I am going wrong. He worked on me on a few technical aspects of bowling.'
'From last Monday, I made amends. I have been bowling with old, semi-old and new balls at the nets here. Sekar sir will never have nice words but he used to be clear about what he says. Today, he told me that he was satisfied and ready for the challenges', he said.
Making clear that he was not complaining, Pathan said he had not been bowling with the new ball thereby not being able to swing the ball as much as he used to.
'I had to work hard to get back to the team by proving myself in the domestic circuit. I am oozing with confidence to play competitive cricket after my short stint at MRF Academy here now'.
