Kapur eyes top-10 finish at KLM Open golf
Zandvoort, Aug. 27 (PTI): Shiv Kapur overcame mid-round blues with a decent two-under 68 and gave himself a good chance of shooting for a top-10 finish at the KLM Open golf tournament.
He improved his position from overnight 49th to tied 28th with a 68 that gave him a three-day total of three-under 207.
The Indian trails the leaders by six shots and the lead was shared by three players Steve Alker (69), David Carter (71) and Ross Fisher (68) but there are 21 players within four strokes of the lead at Kennemer Golf and Country Club.
Kapur has putted steadily for three days and has not given away any three putts, but he has not converted as many birdie putts he would have liked. He has however scrambled well each time he has missed the greens and twice in third round, he made birdies after getting into the bunkers.
Kapur started with three birdies in six holes and seemed on fire as he picked shots on second, fourth and sixth, but dropped two bogeys on eighth and ninth.
A birdie on 15th helped him recover, but for the rest of back nine he had only pars. India's Rahil Gangjee had earlier missed the cut by one shot.
