Iraq crushes Lebanon in Olympic football qualifier
Beirut, Sept. 12 (Xinhua): The Lebanese Olympic football team suffered a great loss against its Iraqi counterpart 5-0 at Beirut Municipality Stadium in the Asian qualification match-ups for Beijing Olympic Games 2008, local Terranet reported.
The first half displayed Lebanon and Iraq leveling in performance from time to time in the midst of the Iraqi domination as the players succeeded in implementing tactics that rendered the Lebanese players unable to compete, said the report.
Samer Mujbil initiated the scoring series in the minute 23 followed by Mohammad in the minute 58 and 90. Ali Mchayhad and Karar Mohammad also netted goals in the 73 and 76 minutes, it added.
The Lebanese team had beaten Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) 1-0 in the first game at the latter's home court while Iraq leveled with Australia 0-0.
