India to tour Sri Lanka next June

Colombo, Sept. 27 (PTI): India will be touring Sri Lanka in June next year to take on the hosts in three Tests and five one-day internationals.

"The Indian cricket team will play three Tests and five one-day internationals in Sri Lanka and the tour is expected to take place at the end of June next year," Sri Lanka Cricket Secretary, K Madhivanan, said here today.

India have a hectic international season lined up as the Twenty20 World Cup winners take on Australia in a seven-match one-day series followed by a Twenty20 international at Mumbai's Brabourne Stadium on October 20.

The series will be followed by a home series against arch rivals Pakistan which will consist of five ODIs and three Tests.

The Indians then undertake a long tour Down Under starting mid-December which will see them clashing with Ricky Ponting's team in four Tests, a Twenty20 international and a triangular one-day series also involving Sri Lanka. The tour ends in early March.

The Lankans have a five-match one-day series against England at home with the three-Test series scheduled for December.

In between, there will be two away Tests in Australia before the Indians go there.
