    S Korea crushes Vietnam in Asian Championship soccer qualifier

    HANOI (Xinhua): South Korea won a berth to the finals, after defeating hosts Vietnam 4-1 in a match of the qualifying round of the U-19 Asian Championship in Ho Chi Minh City on Monday.

    Twenty-six minutes into the group G game, Hoang Van Binh opened the score for underdogs Vietnam after successfully avoiding offside stance, Vietnam News Agency reported.

    Ten minutes later, Lee Seung Yeoul equalized the score for South Korea. During the match, the South Korea had an upper hand, forcing Vietnam to concentrate on defense.

    Lee Jong Won, Cho Young Cheol and Kim Bo Kyung respectively scored one apiece in the 45th, 54th, and 87th minute, sealing the victory of 4-1 for South Korea.

    Also on Monday, Indonesia whitewashed Guam 12-0 in another group G match in Ho Chi Minh City.

    South Korea will clash with Australia, and Guam with Vietnam on Wednesday.

    With the triumph, South Korea topped the group G with 9 points, followed by Australia, also with 9 points, and Indonesia with 6 points. Vietnam and Guam had no points.
