Krishnans refuse to react to tennis players' revolt

Chennai (PTI): Refusing to react to the fresh controversy, in Indian tennis, country's legendary players Ramanathan and Ramesh Krishnan on Sunday said they would prefer tp "keep quite" and wish the issue was resolved at the earliest.

Ramesh Krishnan, the former world number 23, expressed surprise at the unprecedented revolt by top Davis Cup team members, including Mahesh Bhupathi, who have refused to play under their captain Leander Paes prompting the All India Tennis Association to review his appointment.

"Still trying to digest what has happened," he told PTI.

"I am not aware of what is happening also. Thing are a bit charged up and I would rather keep my mouth quite and not react," said the player who also partnered Paes in 1992 Barcelona Olympics men's doubles event.

"Now in such a scenario things have to resolve back to normal situation. I do not want to add anything to it more so because I have not been in the know of what is happening," he added.

Ramesh was a former junior Wimbledon champion and top ranked among boys.

His father Ramanathan Krishnan, who played in 1950s and '60s and reached as high as world number three position, also echoed the same sentiments.
