IT group develop software to track diseases like chikungunya

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct. 4 (PTI): A group of IT professionals has developed an innovative solution to track the growth of communicable diseases like Chikungunya by collecting and processing information from rural hospitals that would help the health department monitor the situation more effectively.

Addressing a press meet here today, Tech-Startup Zyxware Technologies CEO Anoop John said the software developed under the GNU General Public Licence as free software will be handed over to Kerala Health Minister P K Sreemathi tomorrow.

This web-based software has been developed for the first time in the country. It would allow hospitals to report cases of diseases as soon as they were registered, he claimed.

The software seamlessly integrates with the existing manual process by allowing hospitals that do not have any web access to send paper-based reports to data entry operators who can enter them into the system or send soft copies that can be imported automatically, he said.
