Mallika Sarabhai to perform to aid children in Middle East, Darfur

Jerusalem, Aug 26. (PTI): Noted classical dancer and political activist Mallika Sarabhai will perform in Athens next month to raise funds for the conflict-affected civilians in the Middle East and children in Darfur. Sarabhai will be leading the 'Darpana Performing Arts Group' in an extravaganza titled 'India: Then, Now and Forever.'

The September 3-4 event is dedicated to the children of Darfur and the civilian casualties in the Middle East, 'Kathimerini' daily reported. Using dance, music, narrative and songs, the performances will illustrate moments in the cultural and political history of India from antiquity to the present. Sarabhai will be taking the stage at the Herod Atticus Theater in Athens.

The programme is being jointly organised by the Indian Embassy in Athens and 'Doctors of the World - Greece,' the daily said.
