P C Sorcar plans to open university

New Delhi, Aug. 17 (Xinhua): Magician P C Sorcar plans to open a university in West Bengal for graduation in magic, the Hindustan Times reported Thursday.

Sorcar, who astounded many when he made India's Taj Mahal monument to love "vanish" in 2000, told the newspaper that 15 pupils would be trained in the ancient art form each year at the proposed university.

"They will learn magic and learn to trust only logical sense and science, but not the eyes. Today's magic is tomorrow's science, " the daily quoted Sorcar as saying.

His course in optical illusion will last two years. Sorcar said his move aimed at preserving the vanishing art of magic. "My university will preserve the art," he said.
