Two-day ghazal festival at Mumbai
Mumbai (PTI): "Khazana", a two-day ghazal festival aimed at raising funds for cancer and thalassemia awareness will see several ghazal exponents regaling the city audience with their sonorous notes from July 25.
The charity programme will feature maestros like Bhupinder and Mitali Singh, Anup Jalota, Talat Aziz, Ahmed and Mohammed Hussain, Penaz Masani, Rajendra Mehta, and Pandit Ajay Pohankar, many of whom who have been associated with the concert for the past several years.
Noted ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas told mediapersons today that he considered it his duty to do something for the lesser privileged.
He said concerts like Khazana enable artistes to take the rich heritage of ghazals to the next generation.
"Music has undergone a seachange in the last couple of years... Music is different today.. as compared to the passion and love evident in the past. I have seen that... not only the older but even the younger generation do not relate to the present trends in music," Udhas said, adding the concert would enhance interest for ghazals among gen next.
