Farmers' body demands national commission for loan waiver
Amravati (PTI): The Akhil Bhartiya Kisan Sabha on Sunday demanded setting up of a National Commission for loan waiver to farmers on the lines of the one in Kerala.
On the second-day of three-day meeting of the National Council of Kisan Sabha, the Council adopted five resolutions including the one for setting up National Commission for loan waiver to farmers.
More than 150 delegates from 27 states are participating in this National Council, which is being held at Urja Bhavan here in the chief presence of Kisan Sabha's National President, MP C K Chandrappan and General Secretary and Member of National Farmers' Commission, Atulkumar Anjan.
Resolutions demanding direct benefit of subsidy on fertilizers to farmers, price of Rs 1,000 per quintal for paddy, various concessions to farmers to save the nation from food crisis and effective rehabilitation of the affected farmers before acquiring their land for roads, dams and SEZs in the morning session. These resolutions were moved by Koli Nageshwarrao (Andhra Pradesh), MP C K Chandrappan (Kerala), Shashank (Kerala), Suresh Tripathi (Jharkhand), Atulkumar Anjan (Delhi) and MP Prabodh Panda (West Bengal).
