I was nervous to face the camera again: Madhuri

New Delhi (PTI): Not many believe but Madhuri Dixit, who is making a comeback into Bollywood after a gap of almost five years, had to deal with a racing heart and nervousness while facing the cameras after the long hiatus.

"I was really nervous when I faced the camera for the first time after such a long gap. My heart was racing and I feared that I will forget the dialogues," Dixit told reporters here on Tuesday.

The star was in the capital to address a press conference to promote her film, the Aditya Chopra produced 'Aaja Naach Le,' which is scheduled to be released this Friday.

"Everything has changed so much nowadays. Everything is so disciplined, the shooting is so steamlined," said the actress, who had relocated to the US and stopped work in films after her marriage.

So was she apprehensive of making a comeback? "Well, I asked Adi (Aditya Chopra) whether people would be ready to see me again and Adi just laughed," she says.

The actor, who was last seen in 'Devdas', said she missed her craft very much and that is the reason she has made a comeback.

"I missed my craft. I missed the film sets, acting, dancing and everything related to the films, except the limelight," she said.

When asked why she chose 'Aaja Nachle' to make a comeback, the 'dancing diva' said, "It was the way the role was written and the message that the film tries to convey to the audience that attracted me."

"The film is an attempt to connect with our culture and tradition through the medium of theatre and dance," she adds.

When asked if making a comeback in a Yashraj production was a conscious decision, she says it was more because of the comfort level that she shares with the Chopras.

"It has always been a pleasure to work with the Chopras. They are true to their words. I have worked with them in 'Dil to Pagal Hain', so I share an amazing comfortable level with them," she says.

Although the 'Dhakh-Dhakh' girl has made a comeback, she is not very sure about her future. "As of now it is 'Aaja Nachle'. I haven't thought anything beyond that. Moreover, the script has to be well thought out and well planned. I won't compromise with my family and there are other issues which I have to take care of before signing a film," she says.

Madhuri, who left India and settled in US after her marriage, said she was fortunate to get the support of her family and husband.

"I have always got the support of my family and husband. So When I decided to make a comeback, I sat with my husband and talked and discussed and took all the steps required accordingly," she says.

So now that she has made a comeback and worked with a bunch of new actors, how does she feel?

"It has been a wonderful experience so far. I think they are a group of wonderful actors, eager to learn all the time. So, I see something of myself in all of them," she says.
