Conference on foetal medicine from today
Hyderabad, July 6 (PTI): A three-day conference opening here today will discuss the latest developments in the field of foetal medicine.
The three-day annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme will see doctors and experts from India and abroad, including from the US, deliberating on key-issues related to this new field which deals with foetus medicine.
The developments in foetal medicine have had a profound effect on how pregnancies are managed and have resulted in the foetus becoming a full-fledged patient in its own right, experts say.
The conference, being hosted by the city-based Fernandez Hospital, will include a workshop on foetal echocardiography, synopsis on skeletal dysplasia and breast-imaging.
Disclosing this at a press conference here today, Evita Fernandez, Managing Director of Fernandez Hospital, said the workshop will help doctors know the new advances in the field of foetal medicine, pre-natal diagnosis-specific interventions and postnatal outcomes.
Geetha, Head of Department of Ultrasound at the hospital, said foetal medicine is relatively a new subject which needs greater attention.
