Q & A ON CAREER CONCERNS Dated 21st Jun, 2000
We are so overwhelmed by the response that we are unable to print
all the letters. A stamped self-addressed envelope will elicit a

I am doing my second year M.Tech, (Applied Geophysics) with basic
knowledge in computers. What are the job opportunities in this
field of geophysics? Or can I change my field for computer?

With specialisation in Geophysics you will have a job
opportunities in government organization like geological survey
of India and also there are openings in NRSA (National Remote
Sensing Agency). And related to computers if you want to make
your career in computer then get trained in the areas like JAVA,
PERL, CORBA, and internet technologies as this courses have high
demand now.
I am B.Sc graduate having completed a one-year computer course
with one-year computer course have also I appeared for M.Sc.
biotechnology entrance exams. I want to know what is the scope of
this course other then research. I am unable to decide weather to
go for specialisation courses in IT or to pursue higher studies
in life sciences. If I opt for IT field will that best for me?

Post Graduate in Biotechnology are employed in leading
pharmaceutical companies, in chemical industries, as well as
agriculture and allied industries. And related to computers, if
you are keen on an IT career you could your, MS\PG specialisation
in computer sciences or alternatively you get trained in areas
like C++, Java, or Internet Technologies, as they are in great
demand. Ultimately it depends on where your interests lie.
I have done a diploma in mechanical engineering. With basic
compute knowledge in windows Unix, and Ms Office. Having three
years experience in drafting Auto CAD. I am not happy with my
present job. And would like to enter the IT field. Kindly suggest
me the courses that I have to take up in computers for a better
career.

To shift over to the field of IT, you would have to pursue course
offering an advanced diploma in software technology courses such
as SAP, Peoplesoft, Oracle apps, Java Servelets, ASP, Corba, EJB,
RMI, JDBC Swing, Java Script, XML, WAP, Web development and E-
commerce.
I am doing B.Sc final year in electronic science. I want do
computer courses so that I could go to abroad kindly suggest
which course should I do or will doing MCA from a recognised
University.

Along with that do some courses in computer applications
depending on your interest.
