I am a commerce graduate and want to become an IAS officer. Please give the names of a few coaching institutes in Mumbai and kindly provide the relevant information about UPSC examinations.

The minimum age requirement to appear for the UPSC examination is 21 years, with the upper age limit being 28 years. The minimum academic requirement is a graduate degree in any discipline, from a recognised Indian university or an equivalent academic qualification. All candidates are allowed four attempts. There is a relaxation for applicants belonging to the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe on the number of attempts (if they are otherwise eligible). For entry into civil service, there is a multi-step examination rocess. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) first conducts an objective type preliminary examination to screen candidates. Next are the mains that include written tests followed by an interview. The written test consists of nine papers of essay type answers. In Pune, the Chanakya Education Society at Dhyan Prabhodini holds coaching classes conducted by a former IAS office. You can also opt for postal tuition from Brilliant's, Chennai, and other such institutes.

One can either pursue a three-year law course after graduation (any discipline) or a five-year course after intermediate (10+2) leading to a BA, LLB (Hons). The National Law School in Bangalore offers a five-year course in law. Aspiring students need to qualify the all India entrance examination to seek admission into the course. The five-year course usually covers practical training as well. This includes court attendance, hands-on training at legal aid centres and research projects. The University of Delhi offers only a three-year course in law. Apart from the National Law School at Bangalore; other universities like the Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar; Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak; Andhra University, Waltair; Osmania University, Hyderabad; Bangalore University, Jnana Bharathi, Bangalore; Bharathiar University, Coimbatore; University of Calicut, Malappuram District, Calicut; University of Madras, Chepauk, Chennai; Mangalore University, Manglagangotri; University of Pune, Pune and Nagpur University, Nagpur also offer a five-year degree in Law.
