Truly Indian

Truly Indian... Mark Tully.

MARK TULLY, BBC man in South Asia till 1996, is more Indian than most Indians. So when knighthood was bestowed upon him this year, Sir Mark Tully because of his affinity for this country declared that the "knight hood was for India.'' Tully said that he was surprised when he learned of his knighthood. "Thirty years ago I would have laughed at the idea,'' said Tully. Having earned himself an impeccable reputation, Tully, at 65, feels that he has finally understood the ordinary Indian mind.
