For dad

Aman and Ayaan with Amjad Ali Khan

MUSICIANS can make authors, though the content and style of writing may be open to debate. So it was really no surprise when Amaan and Ayaan Ali Bangash, the high profile children of sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan, decided to put together a book on their father's life. Both brothers said that they had a "tough time deciding on the contents". They said there were times when, because of their own heated arguments over the contents, they would think of calling the publisher and telling them to call off the whole thing. "But in the end we have presented abba the way we know him." While both relied on their memory for interesting anecdotes, "since abba is not a great talker", it was their mother who bolstered the script by providing the dates and the correct references.
