EXCELLENCE is the watchword today at every level personal, societal, organisational. Dr. K Suryanarayanan, a renowned organisational psychologist and management expert, will give a talk on the subject at the British Council Library on March 28, 6 p.m. The lecture is part of the exhibition of books on Self Development held earlier this month.

VOLKER LUDWIG and Rainer Lucker, will perform "Dicke Luft", a Grips Theatre play that deals with the menace of environmental pollution, under the aegis of Max Mueller Bhavan on March 28, 4 p.m. at the NGMA. The two actors are part of Studio Puna, an amateur theatre group performing plays exclusively in German. The Berlin-based Grips Theatre is the main professional youth theatre group in Germany founded over 30 years ago, growing out of the students movement of the 1960s, with a professionally political objective of empowering and conscientising children whom they perceived to be a suppressed class within society.

The family in a tin shed, a one room tenement or an upmarket apartment all yearn for something more. But the cacophony also makes people long for the "tranquil surroundings of nature. Meera says her paintings are about "these dreams, these realities".
