THEATRE personality Arundhati Nag's determined efforts to complete construction of Ranga Shankara, a state-of-the-art theatre in memory of her late husband Shankar Nag, have brought her yet another step closer to her goal. M.S. Satyu, Vijay Padaki, B. Jayashree, Hamsa Moily, Preetam Koilpillai and Ratan Thakore Grant have joined hands with her to hold the Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival. All proceeds from the Festival, which was inaugurated on World Theatre Day (March 27), will go towards the construction project. "Chinta", an original dramatisation of the stories of Mahashweta Devi, directed and choreographed by Hamsa Moily, will be staged on April 8 and 9. "Manthara", a new play based on a story in the Ramayana, directed by B. Jayashree, will be staged on April 10 and 11. At Guru Nanak Bhavan, 7.30 p.m. Tickets Rs. 150, Rs. 75 and Rs. 50 at Alliance Francaise (Miller's Tank Bund Road), Supermarket (Brigade Road), Calypso (Jayanagar 3rd Block), and at the venue.

IT'S the accordion with an Arabic touch. Max Mueller Bhavan presents Manfred Leuchter's Band, which features the bandleader on the accordion, accompanied by Herbert Leuchter (saxophone), Christoph Titz (trumpet), Antoine Putz (bass guitar) and Steffen Thormahlen (drums). The line up of his band comprises renowned jazz musicians. "Sparito" and "Arabesque" are two of his albums.
