BRINGING up adolescents in this day and age is one of the toughest challenges that parents face. Now Kolkata-based IpsCan, the brainchild of Ipshita Dasgupta a mother of two is all set to give harassed parents a helping hand through seminars, workshops and other productive interactions. IpsCan's latest event is a convention at St. Xaviers College Auditorium on May 18 where there will be a no-holds barred interaction between two panels, one of teenagers and another of professionals. The latter includes psychiatrist Dr. Kanika Mitra, dietician Pritpal Singh, principals, sportspersons and parents.

MAY 24 is D-day on the rock calendar being the birthday of Bob Dylan. Dylan fans in Kolkata can celebrate in style. A day earlier, on May 23, Lou Majaw, the "Dylan of the North East", will be in town belting out those classics. Accompanying him will be Lou Hilt on bass, Nandan Bagchi on drums, Arjun Sen on guitar and Jeffrey Menezes on keyboards. Scheduled to happen at Someplace Else, it promises to be a very special evening for music lovers. This concert is a prelude to the group's concert in Shillong the next day.

MAY 19 sees the flagging off of a five-day workshop on mask making organised by the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC). Resource persons for the workshop include traditional mask makers from Assam and Orissa. This workshop is a part of a special summer seriesfor school students to promote and spread awareness about traditional art forms.

THE Ananda Shankar Centre for Performing Arts is organising a training-cum-workshop on different aspects of Western Dance Techniques. This includes: jazz, Graham, Afro-Caribbean, Horton and Release techniques. Open to persons with at least two years formal training in dance, On till May 24.
