Summit in sight
EIGHT women, one mountain and one goal. For Rita Gombu Marwah and her seven team-mates, the Everest is only a stone's throw away, literally as they prepare to scale the Argan Kangri. Interestingly, except for Marwah, none has any formal training in high altitude climbing, but that, they insist, is not a deterrent. Neither is the shortage of data or the lack of a support staff.
What these women have in dollops is courage and huge amounts of enthusiasm. Said Marwah, who is the leader of the expedition, "If the weather holds out nothing is a problem." While the women do not know what sort of hurdles they will have to cross while attempting the climb they are sure of enough support from each other.
