SHANKAR MAHADEVAN

G.P. SAMPATH KUMAR

FOR SHANKAR MAHADEVAN, life is a stage with no retakes. Breathless at that sound bite? Not if you're even half way on par with this talented singer. In town to sing at the Red and White Bravery Awards function, Mahadevan zeroes in on what his music means to him. "I strive for the best and something different each time." He feels that today's listeners are more discerning and "will not put up with rubbish". Mahadevan feels that they are more attuned to what they expect of a certain genre of songs and it is up to the artistes to provide the right scores. And while he "loves being on stage since he is the centre of attraction it is a bit scary at times — there are no retakes so there is hardly any scope for error." However with a talented singer like him that margin may yet never be needed.
