The Stamp of Bachchan

RAJEEV BHATT

WHEN actor AMITABH BACHCHAN puts in an appearance, there is bound to be an audience. In town for a product launch, the Big B — while refusing to read out his father's poems — did, in his characteristic wry manner, tell his fans that the only reason he agreed to this was because he had been "bullied into it by the assertive director of the company." If it was a left-handed compliment, he quickly clarified by adding that he was "very happy to see more and more women step into the portals of the boardrooms and take on the marketing scene by storm." Despite being brand ambassador for a number of products, Bachchan managed to convey a sense of uniqueness to the product and the producer whose "humble beginnings were belied by his terrific business acumen." said the actor adding that it was people like these who made a mark in their field.
