Name change for luck

R.V. MOORTHY

DON'T call him "funny face". Actor and TV personality, JAAVED JAAFERI, would have you know your English as well as he would like you to mind your p's and q's. "There is a difference between being funny, as in face or being witty," said he while in town to promote "Dance Dance" his talent hunt show on television. Defending talent hunt shows, Jaaferi said that "television merely provides a platform for people to air their talents." He said that many people remained on the fringes because there was no way they could get the exposure they needed to be picked up whether for dance or theatre or film. He also hopes to get back to films once he has a script in hand. Would he be writing, acting or directing? "Well I could be doing all three or one of them. It all depends," remarked Jaaferi. While he's hoping for a fresh round of luck with his acting career, Jaaferi, like other Bollywood stars hopes to cut the jinx by changing the spelling of his name.
