Tennant on comedy
DIRECTOR ANDY TENNANT is convinced that "there is a global trend in cinema." With this in mind he made "Hitch" a comedy that has a Black American advising white guys on how to hitch a girl. "Comedy is something that portrays the happy side of life," said Tennant, while in town just before the release of the film. He said that some of the funniest cinema was made during the years of the Depression. "It's time to take a light hearted look at life." While he is convinced that his film will work with audiences all over the world because "it has a universal theme most guys are at sixes and sevens when they want to date a girl they like," he quickly refutes the idea of Hollywood trying to foray into a regional market. His plans include shooting a film in China and India at some point.
