LIKE wine she just gets better with age. So when ASHA BHOSLE on her 72nd birthday launched a new album in collaboration with a San Francisco-based western classical group, it came as no surprise for millions of her fans.

"I just keep singing," chuckled the star performer when asked about the secret behind her incredible energy levels. That she does not restrict herself to any one genre helps. "I did western collaborations even before they became this popular," said Bhosle.

On a professional level, she is known to be adept at turning around notes and singing new tunes at the drop of a hat. It does not take her long to figure out what exactly is needed in a song. "I've spent a lifetime doing this," laughs Bhosle. "At my age I should know."
