Gulzar and words

HE lives in a world of words. By his own admission he has changed and adapted to the times. But not always. At the release of Mera Kuch Saaman, a compilation of his works, poet, lyricist and writer, Gulzar said that he did not consider moving with the times as change. "It is growth rather than adaptation... there are many changes I have accepted and many that I have resisted. Eventually I am a product of my times and my words are an expression of those times." He has often been criticised for being "unconventional", but Gulzar never let that bother him. Though he is not against new frontiers in music or film he is dead against remixes. "You are welcome to make your own creation and then do what you like to it. But to alter another's work, I do not agree with this," said he. Asked if he was working on another film script, he quipped, " I've been busy writing stories. I find I cannot multi- task."
