An ethnic flavour
|
The menu comprises time-tested South and North Indian delicacies. Check out the Raaga restaurant at Annanagar.

THE RAAGA restaurant is all set to tingle the taste buds of Chennai-ites with its delicious ethnic fare. The eating joint has made every effort to retain that ethnic touch.
The intricately carved statue of Lord Ganesh that greets one at the entrance, the murals on the walls and portraits of musicians create a truly Indian mood. Well, not to forget those copper coated glasses kept on conventional mats. What's more, there is a special family room too. Ideal for a relaxed evening.
As for the menu, there is a wide variety to choose from. Kuzhi paniyarams, idiyappams, garlic sambar, kal dosas and so on are there for the traditionalists. Parathas, naans, kulchas, rotis and koftas are for those who savour a North Indian menu. Chicken korma and some sea food specialities are added attractions for non-vegetarians.
Good news for hygiene freaks. There is no board that reads `Restricted access' in front of the kitchen door. "Customers have the right to know about the food they eat. So, we do not restrict them from taking a look at the kitchen, if they insist. After all we have nothing to hide," says the managing director, Elango.
There's a fast food joint on the ground floor, adjacent to the Food World outlet, which is a favourite haunt for youngsters. "This is a mode of advertising that we have adopted. When people eat at the fast food joint, they would surely be tempted to come up and taste the food here at the restaurant," says Elango.
Raaga has its own catering service, Maruthi Foods, and undertakes party orders starting from Rs. 90 per head for vegetarian and Rs. 125 for non-veg food.
The Raaga restaurant is located at AB-2, Second Avenue, Annanagar (Ph: 6224314, 6223458).
