FOR CAR lovers, here's a store devoted entirely to perpetuating the male's obsession with the four-wheeled machine. PFM, which describes itself as a car "excess"ories store, has creative options for car owners who want their vehicles to stand out from lesser machines. In other words, it works "pure magic" for cars, hence the abbreviation PFM, the complete expansion of which is not usually mentioned in polite company.
The concept of bigger, better, and boisterous has extended itself to cars the world over, the trend of which is now catching up in cosmopolitan cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore.

Taking this new-found desire as his cue, Deepak Asrani, from Serious Sound (the car audio specialists), collaborated with Sunil Suresh from Stanley Seating (suppliers of leather car interiors) to start PFM. They say that they "found the need to establish a place, which was committed to cars and car makeovers".
Mr. Asrani is credited with bringing down expertise and unique installation techniques from overseas.

"There is a lot of attitude involved with car modifications and that must be justified. If you have Grade A stuff in your car, it must run like a dream. Only experts can ensure that," says the man who spends hours labouring over cars entrusted in his care.
PFM stresses on quality service.
Whether it is an exclusive car interior work or a simple car audio installation, this place carries the "satisfaction guaranteed" placard with it. All the modifications carried out are in consultation with the car owner, to ensure customer approval all the way.
PFM offers a bewildering 40 colours of leather seats to choose from. The options range from the sophisticated black finish to the outrageous pink and purple combination. You can find here even zebra stripes for cars seats. You get custom-designed car seats, interiors crafted from genuine Italian leather, car audio and video systems, security systems, along with a collection of authentic Formula One merchandise for racing enthusiasts, all under a single roof.
Brand names such as O.Z. Racing, Rainbow, AudioControl, CerwinVega, Tsunami, WolfRace, MTX, and EFX Scosche among others can be found at this store. PFM claims to be the only place in the entire country that offers customers off-the-shelf international labels.
This car accessories store also offers distinct features such as performance analysers, which are used for on-the-spot and detailed "in car" evaluations of equipment, accompanied by advice and suggestions. This is done, taking into consideration even minute details such as the kind of music the owner of a car prefers listening to, explains Mr. Asrani.
PFM ensures authentic imported cables, connectors, spares, and the works with no compromise on quality and no sub-grade material. Mr. Asarni also assures his customers that the structural integrity of the car is not interfered with. The chassis remains intact and is not cut in order to fit any equipment, this ensures car safety as well as its resale value.
"Car enhancing not only improves the look of the vehicle, but also its overall performance. The response in Bangalore has been average, with mostly the corporate and student crowd showing keen interest in getting creative with their cars," says Mr. Asrani. Apart from car fittings, PFM also takes on paint jobs for cars, but with a difference. Cars that fade from a bright red to a stark white, for instance, are some of the paint jobs that the store handles.
PFM also plans to host a "Sound Off", which is a competition of sorts, where cars from around the town will come together to blare their music systems, vying for the "loudest and clearest" car audio tag.
