Crooning glory
Manjari Babu Rajendran has achieved success at the age of 15. A 10th class student of Oman Wadhi Kabeer Indian school, Muscat, she has been studying Hindustani and Carnatic music under the tutelage of Shyamala Vinod.
Manjari has keen interest in drama as well. Since 1991, she has been winning prizes at school-level competitions.
Manjari was adjudged the Interschool Kalathilakom, and has won the `Kerala Ratnam' award in 1999-2000 from the Malayalam wing of the Indian Social Club, Muscat.
Her debut album was `Ennum Ee Ponnonam', with K. J. Jesudas.
"Das uncle advised me to work hard. Studio recording was not very difficult for me. I recorded the song under the direct supervision of Das uncle. It was a nice experience," she says.
She has also performed live.
Manjari plans to return to Kerala after completing her schooling.
She sings in Hindi, Gujrati, English and in Malayalam.
