Winning a gold
`RING OF Fire', comprising eight pieces of jewellery, designed by Meera Maran for Prince Jewellery, has won the prestigious `Gold Virtuosi Award', this year. For jewellery designers, the `Virtuosi' is like winning an Oscar. Sponsored by the World Gold Council and the Vicenza fair, the competition is organised to promote excellence in jewellery craftsmanship and is a tribute to talent.
This year's jewellery design competition `Gold Virtuosi 2' had entries from 58 countries, including eight from India. Of these eight, Prince Jewellery's `Ring of Fire' was an entry. What's more, it turned out to be a winner!
The award-winning pieces will be on display till August 25 at Prince's T. Nagar showroom at 13, Nageswara Rao Road, Panagal Park, ph: 4346783/7493.
Prince, which is known for its custom-made jewellery, will also showcase its exclusive `Prince Muhurtham' and `Prince Diamond' collections. Both these can be made to order at the showroom.
Of late, Prince Jewellery has been concentrating on designs for `career women'. It also provides opportunities for young and enterprising designers to realise their potential and trains students of the National Institute of Fashion Technology in jewellery design.
The Virtuosi Award is a feather in the cap for Prince as they are the only jewellers from Chennai to participate in the event.
