`We Indians' on Channel V

CHANNEL [V] has a one-day special this Independence Day, which seeks to present a candid picture of what being an Indian today is all about. Called "Freedom Express", the show, which has been shot all over the country, talks to people about what it really means to be Indian _ and free.

VJs Purab, Yudi and Gaurav visited 28 States in nine days. They travelled by bus, train, car and air to talk to people, ranging from four-year-olds in Shillong to coolies in Jamshedpur. "Besides having a bigger budget, the show covers the soul of India _ its people. Rather than visiting a place and pointing out the sights, it discusses the issues of freedom and independence with people who matter," said VJ Purab Kohli, who covered Chennai, Pondicherry, Tirupati, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Periyar, Nileshwaram, Kankanadi (Mangalore) and Goa.
