Impressive debut
Sreenidhi, a Std. VIII pupil of Sri Satya Sai Vidya Vihar, rendered a Bharatanatyam recital in Kalabharati recently. It was her traditional 'arangetram'.
A disciple of Avasarala Rukmaji Rao, the debutante made a religious offering starting with Pushpanjali followed by Vasantha Jathiswaram of the Tanjore Quartet. She revealed a reasonably good sense of laya in both the items which are pure nritta- oriented. In the Sabdam in Ragamalika set to Misrachapu tala, she delectably depicted the childhood pranks of Lord Krishna.
The main item, the crux of the Bharatanatyam format, a Padavarnam of Papanasam Sivan in Dhanyasi proved to be a fruitful exercise in that, Sreenidhi fairly fulfilled all the intricacies of footwork and abhinaya. The performance concluded on a sprightly note with a Tarangam of Narayanatheertha set in Hindolam, a composition of Annamacharya in Athana and a Kedaragaula Thilana in succession.
