Crabs up for grabs
A few years ago eating out or attending a mega food festival like the Mexican carnival or Italian food fiesta or some from States like Kerala utsav or Chettinad festival was a phenomenon to Vizagites. But with the advent of a couple of three-star and four-star hotels, food festivals have become a part and parcel of their life style.
Leading in this run is hotel Green Park; this time they have a wide variety of the water crawlers spread out for the `bon vivant' of the city.
Yes, they have the `Crab Fiesta' running at their multi-cuisine restaurant `Princess' and at their Chinese restaurant `Memoirs of China' simultaneously and it is likely to continue till month-end.
"The basic idea of doing something different prompted us to organise this unique festival and moreover this is the time in a year when crabs are at their juiciest best and full of meat; they are also available at cheaper rates than at other times. The main source of our supply is the Chilka lake of Orissa," said its general manager, K.V. Madhu Nair.
Targeted primarily for the seafood lovers, the `Crab Fiesta' offers an entire range of crab delicacies starting from soups, appetisers, along with main course dishes in Chinese, Continental and Indian varieties.
Among the 15 delicacies served, the hotel's executive chef, Lalit Mohan Bhatnagar, recommends the Jade crab soup to start with and for the main course Chinese crab fried rice, crab with red wine sauce, crab Chettinad, pepper crab, crab in barbeque sauce, crab `n' broccoli and the never to miss item the stuffed crab.
The fiesta is a made-available-on, a la carte, which comes with a glass of wine as a welcome drink.
