Good music going cheap

IN ITS endeavour to promote quality music at lower price, Saregama India Limited has come out with new CD pricing. Music connoisseurs will get to hear the golden voice of India's nightingale, Lata Mangeshkar, legendary Mohammad Rafi, lively Asha Bhonsle and the inimitable Kishore Kumar at Rs. 99. Earlier they were sold for Rs. 250. Music buffs can now not only own Saregama albums in CD format for Bollywood songs but also regional and international music.

Saregama has decided to reduce the price to not only reach more homes but also to fight music privacy, which has violated intellectual property rights of the music industry. The music company believes that by lowering the price customers will be inclined to purchase original CD, which has not only better audio quality but also more shelf life.

Abhik Mitra, managing director of Saregama, says, "We, at Saregama, with our entire range of catalogue music including many everlasting albums have made it more affordable to the common man to have their favourite music and build their own music libraries of original CDs. The new prices are extremely affordable and with these high quality CDs their favourite songs will last forever."
